Sexual Gender Based Violence

 

SEHER believes that communities can work together to prevent and address Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) through equal and active involvement of women in site/settlement planning and resource distribution, identifying individuals or groups that may be at higher risk of SGBV, such as single female-headed households and unaccompanied minors , education of community members, especially those in influential positions, position to ensure the reality of prevalence of Sexual Gender Based Violence and need for addressing, ensuring appropriate and accessible legal and social support services, as well as informing the displaced community of the location and availability of these services and through developing a confidential reporting system.

Since the issue is extra ordinary sensitive and complex therefore, SEHER has devised and crafted well defined intervention strategy to address  SGBV issues in the Afghan refugees population residing in camps /settled in the pre-urban areas of Quetta District. In this regards, apart from various soft approaches, legal and medical referral system for SGBV survivors through for formal MoUs with 04 leading Hospitals put in placed. Provision of enterprise development activities  likely to reduce the risk and effects of SGBV, reporting mechanism developed, law enforcing agencies are linked with communities & elder groups and massive awareness campaign has been launched on gender related issues through press conferences,walks, rallies, FM radio/TV programs and IEC material.readmore2
